Sorry. 1964 cj5 F134 engine. I found it in the oil pan when I tore it down.

Someone mentioned it may be a fuel pump shoe? If it is and goes between the pump and cam... How do you hold it in place to install?

1 engine had it the other did not.

It would be fastened to the fuel pump arm permanently, it's not meant to be a separate piece.

That would be my guess. Another recent post talked of hearing a loose fuel pump part drop into the pan, and this was what I pictured in my mind.

Some fuel pumps came with sliders which are held to the actuating arm with spring clips, it's not beyond possibility that a clip could fail letting the slider drop into the pan.

Yeah that could be pretty flimsy and a failure item. I just meant it is originally designed to be one unit and installed that way. :)

So do I omit it on install now? How do I determine what type of pump requires it?

I have 3 pumps 2 with glass bowls on top and 1 that is all metal.

    Thanks guys.

Are any of the pumps ones that you have gotten from a parts store? Maybe post pictures of the pumps focusing on the arms.....we should be able to tell what you have.
