Where the splined driveshaft goes into the driveshaft yoke there is a dust cap. How do I get it off? Is it threaded on/off or just pushed on/off?

    depends on year/model of Jeep
but you have stated both methods
usually you can see where the cap is crimped over if that type

The tabs should be tapped into a "groove". Simply work something small/sharp underneath it to bend those tabs back.

Thanks. It's a 66 CJ5 (dana 27 front / dana 44 rear axle). Looks like "tabs" on the dust cap. I asssume that I just loosen tabs and pull cap off.

Sounds right. Just be real careful to not booger it up too much as they're not easily replaced. Good luck!
