"S" Brake line ?

    I'm changing over my front brakes from 9" to 11" drums. All has gone well until I noticed the little "S" shaped brake line won't cinch down in the new wheel cylinder. I searched around here and it seems everyone talks of using a flex line directly into the w/c. Is this the only solution or does someone make a metal "S" line to fit from the w/c to my existing flex line?

    I didn't think the brake lines worked for 9" to 11"? I thought the fittings were different diameters.

    When I did mine I just replaced the lines with flex hose.

    I have replace 4 sets... Loose the S line. Not needed with the 11" and won't fit. Use a tie on the flex line and pass it through the housing.

    I went with discs, but the same end result: The bracket that is held on by the 4 king pin studs/nuts will have to come off. After that is done you can use the flexible hoses intended for a later CJ and it should all bolt up. You can eliminate both the s-tube and the PITA short flex hose by going with the longer flex hose. ;)

    I went with flex lines. I think they were from a Ford Pick-up.

    That's the way mine were...I removed them during this brake swap I'm doing and had to unroll them. When I rolled them back up one side turned out great...the other...well....not so good.

    Is there a place to buy these "S" lines prebent and flared? I read Verns site and I kinda new you could do that, but it's the having to buy the new double flaring tool that keeps me from doing that. Those things are more expensive than just buying new brake lines....if they're available that is?

    I'm sure there's a few people here who would be willing to make some up for a few bucks... ;)

    Either that, or see if your local auto parts place has a flare tool you can rent out. Murry's around here loans you special tools free (with refundable deposit) if you buy parts from them.
