Tyco relay and fuse block?

I am installing IPF H4 Special Halogen Headlamps with 100/170 Halogen bulbs in my flat fender project. To do this, I'd like to have two relays - one each for hi and lo beams and protected with 10A and 15A ATO type fuses. These would be in place of the usual, non-fused headlight junction.

I recall seeing someone post about a (Tyco?) product that combined relays and fuses on the same block. Can anyone help me locate same? I have Googled, but apparently I am not using the right search terms.

    Many Thanks, Mike

Well, yeah. I don't drive this Jeep on the road - at night. But a lot of light is waaaay better than the dim sealed beam bulbs I had before when trying to negotiate a trail back to camp at dusk. I'll be careful not to pull up too close behind someone with the lights on ;-)

Buss IIRC. Tyco made the modular relays first, then Bosch.

Cooper-Bussman or Blue Sea maybe. http://www.waytekwire.com/products/1369/Power-Distribution-Modules/&mfg=30&Component=Modules

    Browse Waytek or Del City.

How many circuits do you want? You pay a premium for a modular product. I would buy two of these http://www.parts-express.com/12-vdc...relay-spdt-30-40a-with-metal-bracket--330-079 and maybe sockets http://www.parts-express.com/12-vdc-5-pin-relay-socket-for-bosch-type-relay--330-075 and a surface-mount circuit breaker http://www.delcity.net/store/Auto-Reset-Circuit-Breakers-!-12V/p_198669 or a small ATO panel http://www.delcity.net/store/ATC®-&-ATO®-4!way-Standard-Fuse-Block/p_795858 - put that all on a scrap of G10 and mount it on the firewall.

Yes, the Bussmann 15300 series blocks. I use them in everything these days.

This is the one wired in my 3B.

I used the Bussmann 15303-4 block for that. The adjacent fuses protect the relay power feed out. Max relay and fuse amperage is 30 for each fuse/relay. Several different busing options are available but the 15303-4 is the unbused version of the combo relay/fuse block. The bused blocks work great for the main fuse block-can run all accessories off one bused side and the ignition switch powered off the other side.

This is the 15300 block I used for my main fuse block in the B.

Cool. That's what I was looking for. Does the Bussman 15300 you used have both pos and neg buses?

I guess you could wire them that way but you would end up with one column of fuses/breakers wired each way and I see no practical use for that. I actually took my double bused main fuse block apart and changed it into 3 bused blocks. Easy to do. The following is copied out of my 3B "service manual" that I keep on that rig.

Main Fuse Block: Bussmann No. 15303-1-0-3 twenty slot ATM Mini Fuse block.
Block buss modified so fuses 1-10 on battery buss (always live), 11 through 15 bussed to accessory switch lead, and 16 through 20 bussed to ignition lead. Fuse block terminals for non-bussed sides are Delphi 12129409 Metri-Pack 280.

I chose the unbussed block for the relays so the "backward wired" horn relay wouldn't be a problem. I should note, these come as bare blocks. You need the terminals, seals, and plugs (for any un-used blank spaces). The seals/plugs are the same ones used for the Weather Pack terminals. You also have the option of short or tall covers. If you only have fuses, you can use the short version. Breakers need the tall version. When correctly done, these are completely waterproof.

Duffer… Thanks for the detailed tutorial. I am printing it out and will put it into my FSM for reference. I will not have as many circuits on this Jeep (2A) but the basics are all the same.
