Hope you all are having a good three-day weekend...

    Quick question...

I have a '62 CJ-5, with the small under seat gas tank. I don't particularly want to keep that tank, since it is so small. I have heard of the existence of a fuel cell that can be installed in the rear of the Jeep. I have already welded the tailgate shut and made the back end of the Jeep smooth and flat. Does anyone have any information on such an item or even better ideas? I know I mentioned this before, but was not looking at the issue. I have advanced far enough now in the restoration, that I need to look at my options. I don't really want to carry gas cans. Thanks in advance...

Tim's link is great, the author doesn't mention a part number but I used Crown - CROJ5355314 for my '71. Of course all I had to do was a R&R but I bet the tank I used would fit once you prepared your Jeep for the retro fit.

Here's mine ready for mounting...I should have rounded the rear corners for an easier install but I managed.

Nice-looking, professional job!!! Hey I am looking at your springs and they look exactly like the ones I have on my CJ-5 with 5 leafs and the block between the bottom leaf and the axle. As I mentioned before, mine seem to be extremely stiff. Are you happy with yours? Tim pointed out some good scientific/physics-based reasons as to why I might want to keep them stiff.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it and the pictures. Have a good evening/night.

The "block" looks like it's part of the axle, maybe I'm wrong? As for stiffness in the springs, I don't know any better. My only Jeep that had any sort of comfort was my '92 Wrangler. I don't recall it being much better.
