Man I could write a book about all the crap I went through this weekend trying to get my dang jeep to run right. Rebuilt carb...new fuel filter...trash in the tank, pull cleaned re-install...had to buy a new battery. Bought a dang yellow top Optima at $240. Then the alternator bearings went out. Jeep has a modified alternator so I had no idea what it came off of. Finally figured out that it was a 105 amp alternator from a 1990 Chevy Truck with a 454...probably a 454SS truck. new fuel pressure regulator..all that and it still wouldn't idle.

Yesterday afternoon my brother finally felt sorry for me when he saw me dragging it up the road trying to pull it off (new fuel pressure regulator was stopped up). Got rid of that regulator and got it started...no idle.

He takes a can of carb cleaner and sprays it at the base of the carb and it smooths out perfectly. So...I have a vacuum leak at the adapter plates under the carb. Ordered a new set this morning. In a few days when those gaskets come in I should be good to go.

Well, always the same problem. When it is dirty, problems are hidden. We clean and we see them. Subtle.
