Does anyone have a picture of the original swing away tire carrier that belongs on this JEEP? And if they are different, for a Ren II? How about the driver side bracket? Thanks.

Thank you all for the advise and comments. I just saw these last few posts. I thought I had subscribed to the thread but never received any notices.

I am sure you found a rare renegade 1! I am in the process of restoring/updating one myself. The color was the first tip off for me. Then the tire carrier pretty much sealed the deal. My SN is 364635.

I see the oil pan has a skid plate. Only the renegade 1 had an oil pan skidplate like that. It looks just like the one on mine.

Before this package, jeeps were farm cars, hunting cars and military workhorses - after this package, jeeps were the cool sport utility car of the 70s that so many fell in love with. It is a kaiser jeep with an AMC attitude. It is really special. But I don't think it is expensive special. It is special to a some jeep people if you can restore it faithfully. I doubt that is possible from the looks of it. What I am doing with mine is some modifications but keeping it look as much like original as possible. Driving around in a special piece of history is cool. I have done a saginaw power steering conversion using herms kit, new bds 2.5 inch suspension lift. new steering wheel. 11 inch drum brake upgrades and some aftermarket seats. IT looks original enough and it is cool knowing what it is.

    Some helpful tidbits:
Paint code is PPG paint code 2128 http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?ditzler=2128

You can get the original sticker
Some pictures of my teardown and build up. I have most of the build pictures on another camera and will upload them in a few months. I have been restoring mine for a few years. it is close to ready!

Here are some pictures you may find useful:
