Permatex makes a spray-can gasket sealer with copper in it.

But Wenaha, I'm curious - why the recommendation for copper?

I think it seals better and is less likely to blow out between cylinders. I have only used the copper gaskets on an L134, but never had a gasket failure. Prettier, too!

Should be marked, either on the gasket or there will be instructions on or in the box.

Or there may only be one orientation where the gasket matches the block, ie it will not match upside down.

If it does match either way, what would be the difference, functionally? Just curious.

    I don't know.

Possible that's why it's not marked.

If it is not marked and matches the holes either way then it won't mater which side is up or down.

there s nothning written on it !

you can turn it upside down : same result , fit perfectly !

nothing special wrtitten on the instructions , the only thing interesting is :

"metal faced gasket : resuires a thin even coat of sealer applied to the metal sides of gasket "

my head gasket is fel-pro= 7543sbx

    Excellent! Congratulations.

I was thinking you ought to get with @Alan28 and shoot us a few pictures together, but I realized then it looks like you're about 5.5 hours apart.

    regards

Wow, sorry about your health, definitely hope you're ok now! Glad you got the Jeep fixed and running. Congratulations! :) Too bad the rest of the world doesn't care about each other like Jeep lovers do. ;)

There is another way to reach the inboard carburetor nut. You can loosen the valve cover and stick a wrench under it -- you can't take it off if you have a different carb like I do -- and loosen it. Once you do, you can take the nut off with your fingers. See pix below for location... I have a two barrel Weber down draft on mine, so your setup will be a bit different, as you are looking at the adapter and bottom of the Weber carb in this picture. Webers should be familiar to you...
