Anyone here in the forum have or seen a Brush Buggie? :? There's a local auction for one, a 1974, owned by a Fire Department who just removed it from service this past August of 2014. It only has 4,500 miles on it! It has a water pump on the front with a 2 inch fire hose and two 1 inch hose rolls on the rear. Has a 100 gallon fuel tank and a hard half cab. Very clean, with only 2 rust spots I could see. I want to attend the auction and was wondering what it might sell for? Any ideas guys? Thanks.

In my experience, surplus fire equipment has a relatively low resale value. By that I mean the pumps and reels etcetera, despite being extremely expensive new, are probably considered obsolete and no longer desired by a professional department. These days a jeep-based unit is probably regarded by the service as undersized and antiquated.

The private market may or may not see that equipment as valuable, depending on an individual buyer's need - a farmer or contractor might see a bargain, IF they need that particular capability.

The low miles and good condition are very cool, but remember a fire unit may put on a lot of engine hours idling or pumping.

I would makes certain it doesn't have any major mechanical defects, then attend the auction for sure.

There is a 12HP Briggs that runs the pump, so the engine idle time could be less. Certainly depends on how often it was actually used. Going to fetch a 61 tomorrow, so I will not have room or $ for another Jeep. LOL.
