I'm trying to determine the color that my 1969 cj5 shipped from the factory. The jeep has been painted 2x over the factory paint. The first repaint was white, the second was an attempt to get it back close to stock, or so what the po told me. I have uncovered original paint is several areas; firewall, tool box lid, and interior fenderwells. My guess is that it was originally empire blue. I know that computer screens vary and often make color seem different. I was hoping for a little input from you guys who were "around" when these jeeps were new.

If your Jeep is indeed a 1969 model year, there were only two shades of blue, Empire and Marlin, for that year. Marlin is a very dark blue. Yours looks like Empire, though the heater box area of your sample still looks light.
I have a '66 in Empire, and it looks the same as your other paint samples.
The Kaiser paint code number for Empire is 385.

    Thanks Donny,
I'm sure that mine is a 69, as the last 6 numbers of the vin are 358292.
