Several people have. Making a soft top is not very hard, making a hard top is harder but mostly only because of the doors. I think it would be straight forward making one with no doors.

I am going to make my own hard top later this year and I will do a build thread. I started already actually but I started with metal and I have decided to do fiberglass instead

Go over to the CJ2A site, JPet made his own top and tells how he did it.

Here's my (hopefully) last stupid question of 2014: can a CJ be fitted to handle both a hard top for winter, *and* a soft top for the rest of the year? Or does the mounting hardware get in the way of each other?

I never had much of a problem on my CJ3B. Remove the 4 bolts that held the brackets for the soft top bows and that was about it. My neighbor across the street changes his tops. About all he has to do is remove 4 screws on the top of his windshield to get the retainer strip off that his soft top needs.
Actually it's more of a PITA to get the soft top on his daughters newer Jeep.
