I've posted a few pictures of this '72 Commando's lift/shackles under the thread "is it safe" I appreciate the input and advice from you guys, but now want to know your opinions as to what this commando is worth. After restoring both a '79 CJ5 and a '67CJ6, I'm wanting to get my hands on a commando project, however, what I have noticed is that there aren't too many of them down here in South Louisiana. The majority of them being way up north or way out west.
This particular commando is still several hours away. The guy said he bought it like it is. There is a lift with 35" tires, V8 with automatic transmission. No top, brake lights stay on. He is asking $2900.00 or beat offer.

    Any commits welcomed. Thank you.[IMG]

Overall it looks solid. Having a Jeepster with a 350 Buick transplanted in it I can pretty much guess it's probably a little crowded under the hood with that front end. Interesting that it has a Half Cab tailgate so there's a chance that it actually is. OTOH it could be something a PO put on there. Not that being a HC makes it worth any more especially without the top and the bulkhead but they are a low production number Commando. Depending on the under body and frame condition I'd think anywhere between $1500 to $2200 on the high end.

You realize it's got the wrong front clip for a '72? As PackRat mentioned, It's got to be tight with that sheet metal and the proper AMC 304 V8 and TH400 transmission. Seems unlikely with the radiator that far back from the grille. Can you show us a pic under the hood?

Seems to me that it has been transformed by a non-specialist and I would be afraid to buy it, except if I consider it for parts.
It seems necessary to rebuild it, needs a beautiful body.
Maybe there are some for sale further, but in better condition. It will be easier if you want to sell it one day as a collector.
Except if you are a good pro for repairing and transform it well as you like, according to a reasonable cost for parts.

Thank you guys for the replies and advice. Judging from all I can see, I think I'll pass on this and hold out for one that is a little more original.

    thank you
