My jeep has been at the mechanic for the past few weeks. Long story short he has replaces the flywheel ring, only because the flywheel he kept ordering was either too thick/thin, starter, battery, clutch, etc. Everything was under warranty and was mostly free. On the way home I stop at a gas station. Out of gear with the clutch in the jeep will crank but will not go in gear. In gear the jeep will NOT crank. Keep in mind it drove fine on the way home until then. Finally I get the jeep to roll a bit and pop the clutch while in 2ND gear and it cranks and I"m able to drive it but as soon as I shift out of 2nd I can't get it in any gear again. Any help guys besides the obvious of taking it back to the mechanic??

    Year/model/equipment would help.

    Location would also help.

Your earlier posts say you have a '73 with an inline 6 (232 or 258). If this mechanic can't handle the repairs, maybe you should take it somewhere else?

First, it is better to never stop to a gas station! I hate them and always problems.:)
More seriously, by chance you have a warranty, avoid touching anything and call the mechanic to get it back.
Probably something is badly fixed and if you go on you can break something.

Of course it is easy to say.
I have an insurance covering to transport to the garage, maybe you have the same.
This is bad luck, it happens sometimes. It happened to me.
The goodwill is on the side of your mechanic.

Thanks for the tips. Talked to my mechanic and I'm having it taken back to his shop next week. Poor guy work a lot of hours on it and everything was good and of course as soon as I stopped to get gas...

Anyways I'll try to keep y'all posted.
