My L - head leaks pretty badly from where the dipstick tube enters the block. Anybody have a part number for the seal or way to repair without a new seal?

    Thanks fellas

There is no seal. It is a press-in fit. You'll need a deep well socket and a mallet to reshape/resize it to fit. Off the top of my head I don't remember the size

I put a bead of RTV around the tube.

If that doesn't work/last, I'll try to reshape it with a socket.

    Thanks for the input!

I'd say the biggest help in getting an effective seal is deep-cleaning before applying the sealant - use carb cleaner, or similar.

I just removed mine and used ultra black permatex. Mine is good now. But someone on the cj2a page makes a tool or die for you to reshape your oil tube and I think it flares it out or something too.
