    Hey all !

I have had a CJ-2a for some time now which had 'slats' of what looks like
oak screwed to the top of the hood. I thought this was just some dude customizing his jeep in woodshop. But I recently picked up a bunch of early CJ-5 parts, of which was a hood with very similar, slats of wood on the hood.

Was there any accessory kit for this ? or was this just a popular addition for strap'in down the deer ??

there are eight slats of about 1/4" thick, 2" wide installed from front to back, with about 1" spacing between.

    curious.....

I've never seen anything other than the two wood blocks that were to hold up the Windshield frame when you lay it down on the hood. never seen more than that.

Remember raeding some time back about wooden slats on the hood on the CJ3B page
if memory serves. Might check there.

Wood slats on the old Flatties was (as you guessed) for haulin stuff. When I was a kid we put the tent/poles and all kinds of stuff on the hood to save space in the back under the view of the windshield.

FWIW - some slats were put on to support the hood as some of them could be quite flimsy. Also saw this on one for sale on E-Bay the other day.
