    1969 CJ5, F134, 12volt. This is the second new/repro gauge cluster I've installed. Oil Pressure idiot light won't go out. I have a standard capillary gauge on the firewall. I've got 50 psi. All electrical connections are clean and tight. Temp gauge won't work. I've checked the connection powered to ground and the gauge will function...just not with either of the senders I've installed. Thanks in advance.

    problem might be the cheap sending units , you get at auto part stores . if you grounded temperature sending wire and gauge swings , wiring good , oil light will it go off with wire off sender . I would post in want ads . a few engines being parted out . lot of times used oem is better . now one question . is it a newer cluster . the ones like 76 and newer , try a senders for a 6 cylinder 76 and newer

    The cluster is Walck's repro. I specified to Carl it was for an F134. The idiot light remains illuminated plugged or unplugged.

    Biggest problem ever on a CJ5 is temp and gas gauges. Many have gone through multiple new clusters and senders and then given up and mounted a fuel can on the back for when they run out. It is actually very rare to find a CJ5 with a working set of cluster gauges.

    For the temp sender you need to measure the resistance with an ohm meter to check if good or not.

    Connect your meter to the sender with the sender in a pan of water on the stove.
    warm = 73 ohms +/-
    medium = 36 ohms +/-
    above medium to hot = 13 ohms +/-
    hot (near boil) = 9 ohms +/-

    Your oil light sender is only a switch. The oil light in the speedo housing has two wires coming out of it just like the amp light. You will notice that these are the only two with two wires each and that the light housing will have a plastic insulated sleeve around the light holder. With no wire connected to the oil sender, the oil light should be out.

    Check mass negative to ground resistance must be null. I changed twicey fuel gauge and it is not yet perfect.
    For temp and oil pressure i use the army gauge of the willys it is direct connexion.
    The value of fuel and temp gauge of the clusger are very low so if ground not perfect the result i§ bad.

    My cluster gauges all work on my 59 but then again I did buy a nos cluster gauge on ebay 5000 miles ago. I try to stick to nos when possible sine repops are terrible. And these gauges are available on eBay right now nos. That's what i would recommend anyways.
