Mmm. Not sure that the intermediate seats are any different from the seats from a few years earlier, other than the color and pattern of the covers. I have not compared them side by side, but I don't recall the seats from a '70 or '71 feeling much different from a '72-75. Certainly there was no great clamor to replace earlier Jeep seats with '72-75 seats back in the day. The driver's seating position is different in the intermediates (more outboard) but the passenger side does not change AFAIK.

That said, the intermediate bucket seats are quite comfortable, with good bolster support and not too narrow. They don't tilt, and the seating position is upright, but the seating position is comfortable for me.

Also, back at the jeep dealer, Brian got lots of old beach city Jeeps in trade for new replacements. These jeeps were in rough shape, and were typically patched up and sent to the car auction. They got new seats, always junkyard takeoffs from vans. The Ford van seats were quite awful, because the bottom bolster was so thick that there was no room for your thighs between the steering wheel and the seat. Even I - a thin (compared to today and most adults) teenager - noticed this problem. But they looked good, and that was sufficient for the auction.

IIRC the Dodge van seats have a thinner bottom cushion, and would work better. The van seats are ok, but the Jeep factory seats are much better.

I've read Mustang II seats fit very well. And some Honda civic's. Someplace I have a listing of seats that work but I can't find it.
