    yet another lift question

I also mentioned this in my intro, but I'm shopping around for lifts and could use some recommendations. I want to do 2.5" suspension and 1" body lifts. So far I've looked at Skyjacker, Rancho, and BDS. The first two look close in price, BDS I have no idea since pricing info seems to be classified.

Lynn said that SJ is weight sensitive, which isn't good since at 6'4 275lbs plus a winch up front, I plan on getting a swing out tire carrier, and it already has a hilift, it could get a little rediculous. :D

None of my archive searching answered the following question, so I'll ask: I'm also curious about what additional parts I'll need to run this lift combo- pitman arm, longer brake lines, etc. Basically, what else do I need BESIDES the lift kit. I'm planning on getting rancho 9000 shocks.

    Thanks guys!

I've been running 33x12.5x15 tires in conjunction with a 2.5 inch Rancho lift with a 1/2 inch lift ConFer shackle set-up since '91. The kit I bought was complete: springs, shocks, poly bushings, new U-bolts and all hardware. I added stainless brake line extensions for a 4" lift from Goodridge for safety (purchased thru 4WD Hardware). I also have a Helder (?) Mfg tire/ can rack which also mounts my 33" spare gas and water cans and has room in the rack for a 104qt cooler and Hi-Lift. The rack was manufactured in Carmichael, Ca. and is very strong, but not a swing-out. I've run this all over SoCal, Baja Mx and thru the Rubicon (minus 104qt cooler) in '00, before I transferred to Va, with no problems. (wish I had that same ammount of time to 'wheel now!! ) Fairly decent ride with minimal sag noticed from the springs, but I will probably go with a BDS when I change them, just for "a change". Solid set-up for my needs...

I've got a procomp 2 1/2 with 1 1/4 shackles and a 2 inch body lift. I wanted to only go with a 1 inch body but had problems with my stearing shaft clearing my headers so I went with 2. I've had no problems with my lift and I run 33/12.50 TSL's. I think I paid around $500 or for the spring lift and shacles. I bought it from a guy starting up his own business but he obviously didn't too well as he is no longer around.

Oh, my Jeep is a '73 CJ with 304, tire carrier out back and a warn winch up front.

    Good luck.

Rancho Has Impressed Me With Weight Stability While Still Riding Nice And Performing Very Well Offroad. Its Been Very Reliable And When I Was Done I Used The Same Springs For My Spring Over.
