Okay boys, this is an easy one. R) What secures the windshield when it's down? I had visions of it snapping on to one of the loops on the hood but it's nowhere close.

There should be a footman loop top center inside of your ws frame, canted at a bit of an angle. There's a strap that runs from it to the big loop in the middle of your hood.

A suitable strap probably can be found from a military vehicle supplier. What I did.

a lot of them came with a little hook device that snapped onto one of the footman loops on the hood. My hood has two of them. One lines up when you lower the windshield, the other lines up when you open the hood.

I have a hook on the w/s, but it's for the hood when it folds up to the w/s.

You could replace the footman loop with a ubolt and hook the windshield to the hood.

I prefer a bungee to the grill, but the original method was the canvas strap posted earlier.

The "big loop" is to hold the hood open. The small flat "footman" loop rearwards of it is for the 'hold-down' strap.
A footman style is too restricted to take anything but a flat strap, certainly not the windshield hook.

The tall style 'hold-open' loop on the hood is the right size, might work for a custom 'hold-down', if you could find a spare one, but I've never seen two on a stock jeep.

The footman loop location and the hook don't align in the down position. He'd have to drill new holes in the hood to use a u-bolt with the hook.

I do have a footman loop just to the left of the rear view mirror. I would like to think that I am still missing something, when the windshield is down the hood ''hold open" latch contacts the center of the hood, is there supposed to be something to support the front edge when it's down? Thanks.

Do you have the "bumper" loops over the ws wiper arms?

That's a reasonable indication of a probability that you may or may not have a possible path to a quasi-successful theory as to the root circumstances underlying the currently observed phenomena related to aforementioned missives.

Thanks for all the info. Got the bumpers from Walcks installed last night. My Jeep seems to have at least a skim coat of Bondo everywhere! Had to dig the stuff out of the mounting holes for the bumpers. One last W/S question--do the bumpers pound two dents in the hood if it is down a lot? Thanks
