    Hey there everyone,

Does anyone know where I can get a 4th gear synchro for my early SM420 (47-52)? I just called Novak and they don't have any, and they don't know whether they are going to make any. I was hoping they could help out, after their locking collar allowed the mainshaft to walk forward wiping out the most forward synchro. I really should've installed a T-18!

There's got to be a junk SM420 out there with a usable top gear ring. You never downshift into 4th, and the 3-4 shift is typically slow. So it doesn't wear fast - just about any part that has seen only normal wear should be ok. Try R&P in Oregon, or maybe ask on the Chevy truck forums? Or even Herm might have a line on one.

Thanks Tim, I appreciate it. I didn't think of R&P. They helped me out before.

You might also check out the oldgmctrucks.com website. Someone on there might have one for a SM420. I had one of those in my 50 GMC, lots of old gmc and chevy parts hoarders there.

You might try Herm the OD guy or border parts in spring valley, San Diego.

I appreciate all the help guys! Thanks! Tourist Transmission rounded one up. R&P and the others were all doing their best (and I really liked that they all called me back) :pto find the 4th gear one but they are getting pretty scarce I guess. I really love how pretty much everyone involved in the old Jeep hobby really goes the extra mile. It sure is appreciated.
