I have a Ramsey PTO and PTO Winch that I want to mount to the back of my 69 CJ5. I'm thinking of making the winch removable/portable but I may permanently mount it as well and was wondering what solutions members of this forum may have. Any photos would be helpful.

Currently my jeep doesn't have a rear fuel tank but I am thinking about adding one so mounting the winch underneath the jeep and behind the bumper won't work.

I doubt that mounting it the way Warn did with their receiver trailer hitch winch would work. I am thinking that a similar system incorporating two receivers may work. I would need to fabricate some sort of short drive shaft/hub that the winch shaft could slide into. Any Ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. [IMG]

If you're putting in a rear gas tank I think your only option will be a bed mount with a chain drive down through the floor.

The one I bought was mounted on the back of the PO's M38a1-

It worked but it sure wasn't pretty. One thing to note-if you don't have "reverse" or "left" version of the winch you'll be spooling off the bottom of the drum- keep that in mind when designing your mount.

I'm assuming the L means left? If so I just lucked out...
