    Hello All,

I have been a member for awhile, hiding in the background reading post and reading tones of info. I am at a point in my jeep that i need some advice. I have read so much info that i think that i am now overloaded and need some advice. Here is the front story of my jeep. About 2 years ago i brought my jeep to a friends shop to upgrade the front brakes and clean up the wiring under the dash, well then i got talked into doing a off body resto by my friend who was helping me do the work on the jeep (LOL). After replacing most of the sheet metal (floor panels, rear floor, engine wall, wheel wells and more). I repaired the frame, beefed it p a bit, repaired a small crack in the frame and cleaned it up. The body is final on the frame. them my friend and i decide to replace the old worn out motor, it was a 231 odd fire that smoked and used alot of oil. I purchased a 1991 S-10 truck with a new 4.3 litre TBI in it at a great price. I pulled the motor and the wiring harness from the truck. This weekend we are going to install the new motor. This is where i am overloaded with to much information. The ECM wiring. what controls should I keep or no use. The doner vehicle is stock, no alarm system, no a/c and n power anything. What is your opinions, I live in an area where i dont have to have inspections or emissions check. also the truck came with an auto matic transmission and i am going to continue to run my T-90. Will the ECM give me problems since it is programmed for an auto transmission? if i dont use any one sensor do I need to have the ECM reprogrammed?

I am looking for ideas, any potential problems that i will encounter while wiring and your thoughts.

    thanks for looking

I am also doing a 4.3 swap, and I found this site to be extremely helpful.

Lots of unknown's here reusing old ECM's and old wiring.........like did all of the electronics work like they should prior to the removal?.........1991 S-10 I don't think had an electronic transmission yet as I believe they did not come out until 1993. Can some of these old ECM's be re-flashed? ............Some yes and some no! There are some good manuals out there on the internet that have a ton of info that can answer most of your questions ...............but for me I use Howell Fuel Injection parts (howellefi.com) they can build you a harness, flash an aftermarket simple ECM , that will be tailored to your needs while eliminating all the extra sensors & garbage for about $500-$600.
