I was finally able to get back to working my jeep. The jeep has a 134f, t-90, and d-18. The transmission was reassembled using NOS parts and put back into jeep. I have taken it out for a trip around town a bit and have a new sound that was not there before. The transmission works fine and shifts smooth. The noise is there during deceleration only. I let off the gas pedal and get a kind of chatter I had not heard before. It only happens during deceleration. It just feels like there is no slack in drive line, the moment you let off gas pedal the jeep is slowing down to match the engine RPMS. I am wondering if it is normal? I can push clutch in and it rolls fine. When in neutral it rolls fine. I have only been around this one jeep, and the transmission before had incorrect input shaft/gear cluster, tooth count. Is it normal for the transmission to kind of rattle a bit during deceleration?

    Need more info...
When you let off the gas and the rattle begins then push in the clutch (while moving) and see if rattle goes away
Also try putting xfer case in neutral and start the engine and shift through your normal three gears and see if you can duplicate the chatter while sitting still.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate the input.

When making the noise during deceleration, and clutch is pushed in, the noise goes away and jeep coasts normal.

I will go try going through the gears with the t-case in neutral.

While there are other possible causes this is a classic symptom of bad pinion bearings in the axle- unhook the driveshaft at the axle yoke & check for any movement at all.

I had a chatter on de-celleration on my 64. Turned out to be something in the park brake drum.... Gave the brake lever
a good pull and it was fixed...
