I came across a complete Kaiser Jeep wiring harness new in the box and picked it up thinking it looked very close to mine which needs replacing. On further inspection it will fit a newer CJ or other jeep with the one piece cluster. Can anyone help me out with the part number so I can get this one to a proper home?

The box says: 927869 HARNESS GROUP 15-07

My "Jeep Universal Parts List" issued in Dec 1967 dosent list that number. Group 15-07 is "Body and Chassis Wiring".
Now here is where it gets complicated. It lists about a dozen Wiring Harnesses:
    Body Wiring
    Chassis Wiring
    " with directional signal cables
    " with generator
    " with alternator
    Harness, underbody wiring
    " use with Delco-Remy
" (Use when oil pressure sending unit is at rear of block)

And if thats not confusing enough it lists Harness, underbody after serial
    8605-230064
    etc.

Because that part number is six digit, its consistent with the Kaiser years. When AMC aquired jeep, the part numbers became longer than six digit, but in the early AMC years, they retained the "group" number assignment for a while.

Clear as mud? If anyone needs a part number looked up or cross referenced, send me a pm or post it here, I keep the book next to my pc, and dont mind looking it up for ya.

upon further investigation, it is my opinion that harness may be used on Postal Jeeps, DJ-5A, DJ-5B, ?????
I base this on our dealers sale activity. Activity shows 2 sales only, in 1968, different months, both to the USPO here in town. No more sales, no more activity.
I have searched thru all the Postal manuals I have Vans, Jeeps etc, and still cannot locate that p/number.
That being said, I remember times when the PO had to furnish the dealer with the number, as they could not order parts directly, they had to order thru a dealer. The dealers were not privy to all the parts manuals, so we couldn't look up the parts for them; wonderful system till AM General came along.
Now, it may indeed work on whatever model you had hoped, but you must remember that the part number could be different, only because of 1 more light socket or relatively minor change that may have been made to the harness for that particular use.
I have searched all manuals, FC, Utility Wagons, Pickups, CJs etc.
I even searched some Willys passenger car manuals I have just for kicks.
End of the line for me.
    Hope someone else can help.
    we always try !
