I'm in the middle of upgrading my ignition system replacing the Prestolite with a Motorcraft Distributor and MSD Ignition Module. To locate the distributor, I need to turn the crankcase by hand to locate TDC. Question is, what is the correct way to "rotate crankcase by hand"?

I assume you meant crankshaft. Rotating the crankcase is difficult!

Pull on the fan and/or fan-belt, while putting some finger tension on the fan-belt if needed. Taking out the spark-plugs will help a lot, but may not be necessary for small adjustments.
A finger in the #1 spark plug hole to sense the air pressure will show when TDC is coming up.

A ratchet or breaker-bar with socket on the crank pulley will work for sure, but access can be tricky.

Thanks so much! I did mean crankshaft. Is the crank pulley the same as the vibration damper? I see a bolt on the vibration damper and wonder if I can turn it there as well. Stupid question but do I turn clockwise?
