Looking at the wiring schematic it doesn't do much as the wires are correct from what I can see.

This brown resistance wire and 12v constant to the module with the key off is a major concern-Key off = brown wire w/green tracer hot tot he touch/also 12v to the module.

Don't know where to go from here.

Note: I did hook up the old +/- side of the coils wiring from the '74 ALONG with the '85's wiring and the resistance wire to the Alt=no change either way.

This was an old points system and ....

I do have the modules Red wire tied into the SAME red wire in the '74's harness which goes directly to the ignition switch.

    Thanks for the help,
    Jim

    Ya I got that-thanks.

But this brown wire is the problem I think AND when I cut it out-I put the + side of the batteries cable on and the motor fan turn about a 1/4"

I'm checking the ignition switch and the routing now-thanks.

I have the module connected to the battery so that is why it is always hot (looking at the harness from the Alt).

So which wire is the RUN so I can hook the modules Red wire to the switch. The Blue on on the switch should be the Start.

I'm going to trace the Red wire from the switch that is next to the Blue on that terminal section and that should be Run.

    Thanks for all the help,
    Jim

NOTE: We have to get a 1973 ignition switch cause the '74 was wrong (napa).

Here is the new ignition switch.

    I see the Batt/Start/Acc/Ign.

I'll have to figure out which is the Run and then go from there w/the module hook up.

OK-I jumped the starting solenoid and we fired the engine and it ran WITH the key ON or OFF !

I had to pull the coil wire to stop the engine.

Everything is still hooked up the SAME as when we had it running w/the old points system and I can't figure out WHY the ignition Key will not work.

This is driving me crazy !

You jumped the solenoid? Does that mean it wont crank and run from the start side of the ignition switch?

OK FOUND the problem -Ohmed out the Start circuit BLUE wire - was bad or the 1974 connectors contact bad.

We took the harness apart and now splicing in the Blue wire-tested and it work and shuts down.

When I was ohming out the Yellow wire from the dash to the + of the solenoid I touched the Blue wire tot he solenoid and it made continuity-that is when we took the harness apart and found the Blue wire intact but must be broken some where else.

    She Runs !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all so much for the help and tips to get her going,
    Jim
