Once it's on the road, let us know how big a difference the 304 is vs. the I6. I've read it's not that much different and I've read it is a great difference. Some first hand comparison knowledge would be good.

My first ride in a street driven jeep was a 76 with a 304, glass body, 268H cam, headers, 4bbl etc.. It was stupid scary fast and really is what got me into jeeps.. I also had a 304 in my first legal car, a 1970 AMC Ambassador SST.. I sure wish I still had that one..

    Woohoo!

If it's the last of the 304s, it's not much different than a 258. By that time, the 258 had been hopped up quite a lot from its earlier form, and the 304 was gasping with smog controls.

I have first-hand knowledge from the early '70s. When the 304 was first offered, it seemed like a tire-smoking hot rod compared to a 258. And it was considered a giant leap in power compared to the 225.

So a lot depends on how it's configured.
