    I have always thought that the straight bars were stronger. On my first '66 I added a front roll cage to a roll bar like this.

    I will post a photo of the backup brackets.

    My '70 originally had a straight bar style rollbar in it. I'm not sure what was being installed in 1970, but it had this bar in it since it was purchased new. I know the history of mine, as I'm the 2nd owner, and the original owner is a family friend. When I rebuilt it back in the late 90's, I purchased this Smittybilt roll bar for it (it had been rolled, and the original bar was bent). The holes lined up EXACTLY and the configuration was the same.

    At the same time, I also purchased this Smittybilt roll cage kit-but it's been sitting around my garage for 15 years. Never gotten around to installing it.

    That is the same kit I used on my first '66, but I added a lower cross bar.

    These are the never used backup brackets:

    They measure 2" x 14" x 18 gauge metal. Each bracket was stamped "B97". There was no hardware in the box.
