Has anyone ever used advanced adapters chain clutch linkage? I'm torn between it and a hydraulic to fix my clutch issue. This is the simplest to install, but only allows for about 3/4" total travel. A hydraulic has a stoke of 1 3/8". 3/4" should do it, but I'm not for sure.

    thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I used one when I did the engine, tranny swap in my jeep. It feels really smooth and seems like its going to work out very well. I have yet to be able to test it offroad so I cant answer as to if it will bind up or not. If you do a search you should be able to find quite a few posts about how well it works and some of where other members have actually made their own versions of the AA piece.

How do those kits attach to the clutch. The cable ended with an adjuster nut. Do you still use the adjuster nut? If not what replaces it?

It attaches to the stock clutch fork. If im not mistaken on the stock fork you have to slide the cable through the hole in the fork and they supply a nut kind of thing that slips over the cable and prevents it from pulling back through the clutch fork hole. make any sense??

I run the AA product. On the cable that slides through the slot in the clutch fork, there is a ball swaged to the end of the cable that rides in the depression on the fork. This short piece of cable, maybe 8" (heavy cable, twice as heavy as the stock '71 clutch cable) has the threaded rod on the other end of it. That threads into a boss on the end of the chain.
It all seems to work very well, at least for me. I've not experienced any binding at full twist.

As said, if you're creative, some of the guys here have made their own chain control linkage for ~1/3 the price of the AA unit. Do a search for more info...

EDIT: I have the AA instructions scanned... if you want a set send me your email addy and I'll forward them tomorrow.

I really love my Wilwood hyd. It makes the clutch just as soft and smooth as a new Rubicon hyd setup.

I just ordered the AA clutch conversion. From Bob Suplee, told me it'd be here next Wednesday. I'll tell you how it goes...
