Does anyone know how far the bell coupler needs to engage the 1975 gear box shaft. I pulled mine apart and cleaned internals to regrease and install new boot. I saw a round disc I think that came from inside bell coupler that was at end of steering shaft believe. Does anyone have a picture of parts break down of bell coupler and steering shaft engagment?

If I recall correctly, when I re-installed mine after a replacement gear box was installed, the shaft "ears" sat about mid-way down the bell coupler. When turning the ears never left the groove in the bell.
The little metal disk sits at the bottom of the bell, I think it provides something to keep the grease inside the bell. Mine wasn't even a good fit, but I left it in there. Good luck getting the rubber boot to go on, it's a bear.

    No pics though.

I need to pull mine back off and move disc because I believe it is interfering with the tit on the gear box shaft. I installed it on the spline side instead of the coupler side.
