Hi - I just bought a front and rear set of axles (complete housings and internals) of a CJ2A and need to know what they weigh for shipping - Can anyone please help ? The front has a disk conversion but I can't imagine that changes much in terms of weight

I am shipping a D18 with them but was able to find that weighs 80lbs (the one I am shipping has a drum park brake on it so I figure 90 lbs) does that sound right ?

    Thanks
    Rob

    I just shipped a D-44 housing only.
No shafts, no case, bearings, or gears.
That was wrapped up at 69 pounds

    So just to follow up...
Small pallet with a Dana 18 (with drum), both stock axles (with cast backing plates on the disk conv) both driveshafts, shifters and a few spare u-joints came in at 470 lbs

Most LTL truck lines re-weigh all freight to ensure they are getting paid correctly, so, guess the weight low and expect them to bump your charges up to its actual weight. You're gonna pay one way or another the same money....as there is no penalties added to freight charges due to wrong weight, they just bump cost up to where it should have been.

www.freightquote.com is a great place to go to get stuff shipped, they move a massive amount of tonnage every year as a third party broker. I've used them close to a dozen times. Call them though, it's easier than their web site. (Haha, and no, I don't work for them, but I do work for a company that moves freight for them from time to time)
