voltage regulator replacement

    Hi all,

    My CJ ( 57 CJ5 6 Volt) voltage regulator went out on me yesterday. I was going to order a replacement but wondering if it maters that I have a Auto Lite generator. My service manual talks about not mixing voltage regulators, how do I match voltage regulators? Thanks in advance.

    Voltage regulators are designed to match the generator. The regulators need to be match for circuit design such as "A" or "B" circuit with proper voltage and current (amps) capability. Is there a tag on the generator giving you the model nr? If so then use that number to match to the proper VR.

    Agreed. Having just done this myself, the VR needs to match your generator or alternator. For example, my alternator is a 60 amp version, so the regulator needs to e able to handle that.
