So, I have looked through a lot of posts here.
I am looking for a Part number of a piston (that is still available) that will give me a compression ratio
of 9.5:1 instead of the 8.0:1 that was stock when Buick switched to the 231. I know TRW and Sealed Power both made a piston that would give a 10.0:1 (TRWL2343F AND SEALED POWER 2232P) but I can't find the referenced part # on the net. Pat Ganahl talks about a Sealed Power piston that would give me the CR. I want but again no part number and I can not find it on the net anywhere. The Buick 350 has pistons that will work. But I don't know which one to order. I don't know what to do with out spending lots of greenbacks for a custom set.
    Any thoughts?

Reread in ganahl's book, as I don't recall, but, if the Buick 350 piston is the same as the V6 piston (diameter, where the wrist pins go, all that important stuff), then just get the 350 pistons. May actually be less expensive.

Not sure of your overall build plan but, if 9.5:1 is good, then hey man, 10.0:1 must be better. :easy rider:

I don't know if this will help but I got these in a box of stuff from a guy that bored his 225 .030 over and used a set of 300/340 V8 pistons as to being easier to get. I don't know what his CR ended up being. He rebuilt the motor less than a year ago.

If you think about using V8 pistons, check that the deck height is right.

In terms of displacement, the 225 is basically 3/4 of a 300, with 3.75/3.4 bore/stroke. The 340 increased the stroke to 3.85, and the 350 increased the bore to 3.8. The 231 is 3.8/3.4, same bore as the 350. But you have to compare the deck height to make sure that these pistons are compatible. The 300 and 340 came from the factory with 11.0 and 10.5 CRs resp, so that might be a way to get your higher CR ... but remember that the 231 is the same bore as a 350, so you'd need a 300/340 piston that's 50 over or larger to fit in the factory bore. I recall from somewhere that the 350 pistons are the same as the 231s, but check because the stroke is different, and the deck height difference could make the pistons incompatible. The 350 was introduced in '68, so there should have been ca 10:1 pistons for these engines with the 4V option.
