PCV valve question

On my 73, 258 ci I currently have the pcv valve hooked directly to the manifold vacuum hose. The tee to the canister is capped. I also have the hose from the valve cover to the air cleaner hooked up. two of the three conncetions on the canister are capped. The from fuel tank is hooked up.
My questiona are with this set-up, will there be more oil along with vapors going into the intake manifold? What is the correct PCV valve to use as I understand they are calibrated differently?

When I tried hooking up the lines as shown in the TSM, there isnt be enough total advance timing @ 2000 RPM indicating a vac leak in the canister. When i skip the canister I get the correct total advance. Are these canisters available? From where?
