Ok, So I bought 3 engines. 2 225s and 1 231 odd fires. I took one 225 that I thought would be the best candidate for a build. But alas it was not to be. The block and both heads were cracked.:( But not to fear I have a spare ! So I tore down the other 225 and took it to the machine shop. Two days later I go back to the machine shop to find out what it needs. But, the mag. flux. says the heads and the block are all three cracked:shock: So, Now all I have left is the odd fire 231....I will tear it down tomorrow and take it to the machine shop and hold my breath...

Ok, That is all for the story. Now the question. I have already bought the cam kit, timing kit, gaskets oil pump, fuel pump, water pump and assorted parts for the 225 motor. (Not pistons, rings, and bearings) Will these parts still work in the 231 odd fire engine? Or do I need to go out and look for a 225 block ? If I can use the parts I have on hand I will build a odd fire 231 and up the compression ratio a little to the odd fire 9.0 or so. Anything I should look out for? Hints or insight?

:)First off if the cranks in the 225 odd fires are still good keep them...............you should be fine all the Odd fires mechanically were the same......except the bore......225 is 3.750 and the 231 is 3.800 both had a 3.400 stroke...........and I think the 231 Odd had a later distributor. I'm not sure what the late odd fires were for compression. The 225 was already 9.0.1 and I thought the late odd fires were the same...........the even fire's went to 8.0.1
