Tailgate Chain, Hook and Sleeve

    Hi Guys

    I am Elmer of MDJuan. We are restoring a CJ2a. We saw on the internet that the tailgate chain has a canvass, can you guys tell me what material this is made of? Is it leather, or canvass material?

    I believe they were originally simple cotton canvas.
    Today, some guys use a section of fire hose to duplicate the original canvas appearance, with added durability.
    Typically a drain hole needs to be added in the bend.
    I think the ideal fire hose is 1.5" diameter.
    Many times fire stations replace old hoses, which can be picked up for scrap.
