During the restoration process on my jeep, I removed the fuel tank and used a 5 gallon boat tank with a quick disconnec.

That way, I could remove the tank when I did any welding or grinding on the jeep.

When I got around to cleaning out the tank, once I had it clean inside, it leaked. I ended up getting a tank cleaning kit from Eastwood supply.

Kit costs $50+shipping and you still have to buy a gallon of muriatic acid, and dispose of the toxic chemicals when you are done.

I'm not sure it was worth the effort, wouldn't have cost that much more for a new tank.

If you have enough leaky spots on the bottom of your tank, you probably should just go ahead and get a new tank.

    I c

Mine didn't leak until cleaned it inside, and then it only leaked at the seams, there was no leaks in the flat part of the tank. Once you clean it out, I would suggest that check it for leaks before buying a sealing kit.
