Last year I installed a TBI in my 304. I also installed an Edlebrock manifold. During the manifold install I somehow broke the Tstat housing. I bought another from NAPA [cast] and installed it.. I later noticed coolant on the front of the manifold in the bolt recesses.. I re-installed and used a new gasket and and some brown Permatex gasket stuff. Still leaking, at least coolant was collecting in the bolt rcesses. I purchased some Right Stuff gasket sealer and used that. I snugged the bolts and then the next day tightened them.. I thought I had the leak fixed. Jeep sits all winter in the garage. Yesterday I drove the Jeep around town because my truck is getting a new engine installed. Today I changed the oil, and noticed that the coolant leak is back..

I was looking on the web and found a new housing that is machined, albeit expensive [$100] http://www.robbmcperformance.com/products/tstat_amc.html

Has any else had this issue? Ideas?

I've had the same issue. The Right Stuff by itself has seemed to work the best for me, but I've got a leak where I have that threaded hole in the back. I plugged it with a brass plug and sealant but still get a seep.

The housing you posted seems like it has too many places to develop other leaks, i.e., swivel neck and threaded bypass hose connection.

I believe I'm going to swap mine with a nickel plated one from bulltear that has the threaded hole pointed up not back.

I didn't see the BullTear one on their site. Have a link?

Well if this don't beat all.. I have been trying to get the leak to leak so i can find out where it is coming from.. I dried everything out and drove around , hot rodded a bit, kept checking and no leak.. Looked his AM in case it leaked over night and it's dry.. I guess I'll keep checking..

Check your hose clamps are nice and snug. Small thing but can be a PITA.
