Flat fender ID

I went to look at a Jeep this past weekend that I am considering buying but I can't tell just what model(s) it may be. It is partially disassembled and buried in a barn (sorry no pics) it has either a 2a or 3a grill and what looks like a 2a tub with no tailgate just a solid panel and no fuel filler hole in the side of the body like an MB but there are no notches for a shovel and axe, however the rear axle has the full floating hubs like the MBs,GPWs and early CJ2s had, I figured it had been assembled with an assortment of parts but I have never seen a tub that looks like this one. It's not in great shape but it's not terrible either. Anyone have any idea what it may be?

 

If it was a DJ tub, it would have a large round speedometer more like a CJ5 multi gage unit. If it is WWII, it will have tool boxes over the rear wheels.
As far as I know those are the only two stock uses of a no tailgate tub in a flatfender model. Only the WWII jeeps had full floater rear axles, stock, besides a few early, early Cj2A's.

The DJ uses a right rear fuel filler in the tail light panel area. Gas tank is between the rear frame rails, a rectangular simple tank that holds about 10 gallons and looks like it was made in a shop class. The rear tank means no diagonal supports for the rear drawbar, which also is not used. The DJ frame is pretty much a 3A frame, with the offset motor mounts. All the 4WD parts bolt up to it, but none came 4WD stock.

Check for the motor mount ears on the engine, and serial number on the engine.
