Had a great time wheeling Winter On the Rocks in Utah, only issue was my clutch linkage. Three times in granny and 4low while crawling, my release rod popped out of the release fork. I kept truckin' til I got to a spot to cut off ignition, set park brake, dismount, pull clutch pedal off floor, wedge a nalgene bottle under, pop hood, pull 9/16 bolt from push rod, roll bellcrank, reinsert release rod, button up...PITA! Pedal freeplay is within spec: .75-.50. The only difference is that before swapping in a '77 T18, the adjuster on the release rod had a rubber grommet on it. I cannot source it from anyone. I've called a lot of suppliers and they all say, they've never heard of it before. It's illustrated in my '73 TSM, I just can't source it any where. Any ideas?
Years before the swap I upgraded my push rod/release rods to heim joints. Now I've ordered a rebuild kit for the bellcrank to make sure thre's no slop there. Should I slip some Orings on the adjuster, or cob up some rubber gasket material?
