I am just starting my cj5 project and I am looking for a drivers side rear quarter panel for my 1970 CJ5. It is an early ’70 so it still has the fuel tank under the seat. I have found some panels but none of them seem to have the recessed area where the top bows used to go. The passenger side still has this feature and the driver’s side has been replaced at some point and a cheap flat panel has been welded over the top of the old panel which was partially cut off when it was hit in the rear. The old partial panel underneath still has the recessed area. I know I need to replace it and want it to look original. Can anyone recommend a vendor of a panel that is correct? I looked on the classic enterprises site and did not see the replacement quarter panel. It seems as all of the pictures on all of the websites look the same and I don’t want to order the panel and find out it does not match the passenger side.
    Thanks for your time,
    Rog

I suggest you call Classic Enterprises. I know the recess you are referring to, and so will they.

At worst, you can buy a good OEM panel from somewhere like J&W in California. http://www.jwjeep.com/

If you mean the pocket I think you do, it was a vestige of the military M38A1 top mounting. Perhaps you can specify panels that way.

I think I will call Classic Enterprises, I sent an email but have not got a response yet so phone call may be easier to make sure we are talking about the same panel.
    Thanks!

To get that recess I think you are going to have to buy a panel for the whole side of the jeep. In the Tech Section, at the top there is a a thread "Where To Find Parts". Go to page 6 and about half way down there is a post with links to venders you can look at. Look on Ebay too, wording on your search has to be right. It took me several tries before I got items I was looking for to come up. I think what you are looking for is going to be a Omix-Ada panel

Thanks Steve, I missed that sticky. I saw the "early CJ vendor directory but did not find much there. I'll check in the tech section and see what I can find.
