I picked up a nice, well cared for, very original, very low mile 1970 CJ5 with V6. I am going to keep it as stock appearing as possible.

Right now it has a pair of hideous front seats from who knows where. I would like to go back to the original, split bench front seat. I have looked around and haven't found anything so far. Any and all help on this is appreciated.

Thanks for any and all help.

If you are willing to pay up, you should be able to get some seats from J&W in Antelope CA, near Sacramento.

I would also put an ad in the WTB (want-to-buy) section on every Jeep forum there is, starting here. Specify whether you need the brackets and the seats, or just the seats. The steering column position (and seating position) changes in 1972, so I expect you'll need '71 or earlier.

I don't think anybody manufactures original style front seats for the CJ5. I had the same problem looking for seats for my CJ5. You can get flat fender seats all day but for some reason not CJ5. You can find seats that are fairly close low back bucket seats but not exact at places like: www.quadratec.com www.4WD.com . Im no expert but I thought the only split bench seat in a CJ5 was in the Tuxedo Park edition in the mid 60's. Sometimes some orignal stuff appears on Ebay. Hope this helps.

1/3-2/3 split bench seat was available as an option at least through the '70s and possibly to the end of the run.

    Thanks all for the response.

My first choice is the 1/3-2/3. I will make the WTB posts. I need some pictures of these seats to help with the find. Anyone have one or two?

My 59 cj5 has a split bench 1/3-2/3 whatever its called. My left driver side seat is the larger of the two and the back of it has springs and the bottom is a piece of wood and I think Is just foam inside, and my passenger seat is springs back and bottom and folds and tumbles, and im pretty sure its the factory seats. and in my copyright 59 parts manual it says they were optional. But im thinking of putting in the standard buckets instead so I can have a center console.
