So the Jeep-in-a-barn has a huge problem: its driver's side seat is a mess and the passenger's seat is completely gone. I figured someone would make them, but aparrently not. And Kaiser Willys refuses to sell M38A1 passenger seats for use in a CJ-5.

Anyone know what's up with that? The sales rep didn't seem to know what the difference was, only that they just won't sell them.

And if anyone knows, would it be easier to adapt M38A1 seats (since I'd like to keep the toolbox and all), or find a way to fab in a set of aftermarket seat rails?

The Jeep-in-a-barn keeps its gas tank under the driver's seat, for what its worth.

M38A1 seat cushions are somewhat smaller and more "flat" than civilian. That said, they aren't bad for local trips and they are readily available, unlike civilian. You can try ebay or jeep surplus dealers etc for used frames, ebay, Beachwood, or others for new cushions and covers.

What about the frames themselves? How different are the mountings?
