I'm in the prosses of rewiring the jeep. I am runing into some questions and decided to post this so I can post my questions here.

    Questions:

    1. Will I still need a resistor? The OP did not have one with the old wiring but not sure how this harness work with out one.

    2. Does any one have a link to a wiring diagram for the speedometer?

    3. The steering colum has a 12v relay, do I need this?

    4. Does any one have pics of how you ran the wiring in the engin bay? Im a visual Lerner.lol

    Thanks in advance.

Looks like the plug for a GM steering column, for the ignition switch.

I had some similar plugs on my Speedway Motors wiring harness. I agree with Mike S, probably some GM plugs. You can use a small flat head screwdriver and remove each wire from the plug or just cut the wire near the plug. Then crimp on your own terminal to make it work for your system.

Perfect! I took them off and I'm putting them all in without that plug. I have to wires that I'm confused about. One says ign switch and ign switch coil. How does this hook up to the ign switch?

    Few more questions,

    1. Do I need the flasher that was in my old wiring harness?

    2. Do I need to splice into some wires to connect my signal start 900? It looks like the EZ wiring harness has more wires than the signal start 900...

    3. Im still not exactly sure how to wire the ignition switch if anyone has delt with this isue before?

    4. Does anyone have a pic of the exact location for the oil sending wire?

    5. how and where did you mount the EZ wire fuse box?

    Thanks!

Not likely anyone will know what terminal is what on your ignition switch because the stock ign for your model has studs not flat spades. Do you have any idea what vehicle and year it is for?

Can you post a close up photo of the terminal side of the switch, and also tell us what the key positions are-----such as Off, On, Start, or, Off, Aux, On, Start, or even Aux, Off, On, Start.

These are prob not the greatest pics... I don't know the part number of the ignition switch but I got it at napa and it has 11 prongs(I think that's what you call them).

In the EZ wiring harness there is also a black wire spliced to the batt power for the ignition. Where does that wire go?

It looks like you have figured it out------or are you just putting wires on tabs to see what happens?

It looks like you have 5 contacts, so I would hazard a guess that one is power in, one is starter, one is resistor bypass, and the two ganged sets are ignition on, and accessory.

Use a VOM and check out what happens when you turn the key to each positon.

You could also go back to NAPA, and see if they have a set of instructions......

I have what I linked you to....;) And you won't see a typical ignition switch in use there.

The Jeep's been gone for > 2 years now.

That switch looks like the one I replaced on my 71. the parts store did not have a listing on the CJ5 but found the identical switch on the same year Commando. I don't have a photo but with a VOM or test light you should be able to determine which one is acc, start and on. IIRC the center post is the power in to the switch.

Thank you all, just got off of work so haven't played with it. The switch actually has both of the outer sides with the four prongs saying acc, the one with the red(ign switch power) wire says batt, the one with the purple(starter) wire says start but the middle says nothing, I have that spliced black wire coming from the red(ign switch power)wire and have no clue what that's for and a pink(ign switch coil) wire that I don't know where to put. I've tried cranking the jeep but I get no power and the batt is fully charged... I wonder if something happen to the starter when my old wiring harness caught on fire.

this is the wiring diagram I'm going off of. http://www.goindesign.com/w4r/EZ2Wire-Manual.pdf

I've been checking threads and YouTube... I wonder if my starter is bad since I think I've got all the connections what I think are correct. When I turn the key I get nothing, no clicking or no cranking even with the charger on the battery.:( any suggestions?
