Well ive dug deeper into the process of fixing my title issue and as per a member here I called the DMV in olympia. They said to go into my local dmv sign a Certificate of Fact pay the $19 dollar fee and its done... So i went in to do that and they're like "Who The F Told You That???" they told me I would need to get an inspection at the Washington State Patrol to have them verify the year, then i called to schedule the appointment at the state patrol and they gave me an appointment time and date and told me to call a number for state patrol in Yakima, Wa they of course had already closed. so i need to call them tomorrow and ask about this situation since the state patrol here said they might turn me away at the time of appointment without prior authorization from the Yakima office since the incorrect year on the title isnt a normal reason they would inspect a vehicle. I showed the dmv all the charts and identification papers and such that i had, to prove my point and they still said they had to have it inspected.

I told the lady at DMV i dont believe the year is encoded into the VIN and she says to just show them my "Proof"

It all depends on who you get. Some want to help, others just want to cause friction.....Good luck!

In the end they don't care about the actual jeep or it's year. They care about the paperwork and having their butts covered so it can't ever come back to bite them at their job. If they can document that "he showed me proof" then they are likely to be happy. Probably almost anything would suffice. My two cents.

I'd try this. Start by asking nicely and then break out your proof if necessary.

You might have success if you went to a smaller office that wasn't too busy. If they won't do it on the spot, they may be able to tell you just what would be needed.

I doubt that there would be a down side to this other than the frustration and time involved.

Independently owned DMV? Why not just go to the WA state DMV office?

Around here there is a Main government owned DMV also locally referred to as the Benton County Auditors Office and there are smaller DMV offices privately owned that charge the normal fee plus their additional fees, its kinda like a franchise similar to what McDonalds and others do is an easy way to think of it. one of the main up-sides to the smaller privately owned DMV places are they most times are open longer hours and Saturdays whereas the government owned DMV is usually 8:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday only which those hours dont always work with some peoples work schedules

I know I started this post month and a half ago but thought I should update my situation. After scheduling a Washington state patrol inspection that was a month out, (today was the inspection) so I went to my inspection today and had the inspector attempt to verify my year and after going through 4 thick books he told me none of his books tell him anything about these old jeeps except for vin locations. So eventually he went off the paperwork that I brought in to him which was a kaiserwillys ordering catalog that had the serial number ranges for each given year and another paper I printed off morris jeep site saying the first 5 digits of the serial decode as an open body cj5 and it said the last 5 of my ten digit serial number was just the sequential number that it rolled off the assembly line. After reading through what I brought he said yes I do indeed have a 1959 so he wrote me a letter that I brought to the DMV giving them permission to change the title. After going to the DMV they changed it and didn't even charge me a dime. for anything. So now my new 1959 title will arrive in the mail in 6-8 weeks.

Good job! Another old Jeep titled correctly. Gold star to you for doing your homework and being persistent on this, and to the inspector for using common sense.

Glad it worked out for you and you got to deal with some reasonable people. :) Some of them can really have an interest in doing it right, and some of them simply can't help. I've dealt with both.
