Anyone done it? and is it worth it?
After looking at the adapter, it looks like moving the 4 bolts holding the adpater and trans together would do it.

    This adapter:

little different picture of the same adapter plate.
    http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-50-3101/

The 4 bolts are socket head cap screws and c'bored on the back side, and would be remachined. The only issue I see is moving these bolts is lossing some strength. Rotating the bolts will move them into a thinner place on the adapter and looking at maybe 5 degrees?
I believe this strength issue can be overcome by milling the "advance adapters" for a flat surface. This new surface would have through bolts into a support also attached to orginal trans mount bolt holes.
The new adapter mount will also be rotated but is can be overcome with a custom cross memeber or milling it flat and redrilling holes.

Will the extra work actually help clear the TH350 trans by moving the front output farther out?
And is it going to be a significant about of added ground clearance?
Is it actually going to be worth it to clock it? Or am I missing something else?

    There's no issue clearing a TH350 anyhow....

Maybe with the stock small V-6 u-joint, which I have, but I'm trying to run the large ones.
It is also running to a FJ40 front axle, which I think the larger ring gear moves the flange a little more towards the center.

One of the issues is shifter linkage clearance. It can be overcome but something to look at.

If I'm thinking right, the shifters should just need to be bent to go straight up through the floor. The Xfer should revolve around the round top of the trans. I haven't had a chance to get back to it this week, so hopefully this weekend I'll get a better look.
Worst case, rotating it shoves the driveshaft into where the pan bolts too.

I don't think it can be clocked far enough to cause an oiling problem, just because of the adapter casting limits.
I'm still struggling with to persue this or not, with the limits of the casting I'd be lucky to get 2" of extra clearance.
But I'll probably pull the bolts and look to see what will happen.
