Hello, new to the forum and a 1965 Tuxedo Park Mark 4 owner, looking for some help. I unfortunately am considering selling my baby but have experienced some difficulty with excessive shimy at certain a certain speed that really concerns me. I have been looking for someone to help me figure this out to no avail. some say it is the steering knuckle? can anyone help me figure this out so i can get her fixed (and maybe change my mind)?
    sure would appreciate the help!

very common problem, stick with it and you'll have a fun little jeep!
Are all your tie rod ends good or new?
    bell crank shaft replaced?
knuckle bearings shimmed properly or new?

Also check wheel bearings, U-bolts, steering box for play, frame for cracks around spring mounting points and front crossmember.

Hang in there, You have a great vehicle to learn things on and as you fix it up it will grow on you... Don't let a little fear of the unknown get in your way. there is plenty of help out there for you. Get the books, shop manual, Jeepers bible (king) read them and this forum, go slow and careful. and have fun!

"I am concerned and want to do what would be logical first."

Consider a steering damper. Quick, easy and cheap. Won't cure the cause but will reduce the wobble meanwhile.

shimmy at certain speed could be an tire balance problem also maybe just lost a wheel weight.

First thing is to crawl under the front & watch what happens when someone turns the steering wheel, check to see what parts are moving and what aren't moving quite so much.

2nd thing is to jack up the front end, put some good quality jack stands under the frame & then pull/twist/rattle/generally abuse the wheels to see if there's any looseness in the bits that hold them to the axle.

Get a factory service manual, reproductions are available from many sources.
