Does anyone have an early CJ5 equipped with a Koenig model 100 winch? I'm looking for the length of the driveshaft from gear to gear minus the mounting plate.

I'm researching the feasibility of the driveshaft and winch from a CJ3A fitting my situation (CJ6). There is a model 48 PTO which is also available but I'm unclear if it will fit my application...T90

Before I buy this unit, I need to make sure it's going to fit in my CJ6 Perkins. My build thread is here if anyone want's to have a peek.

I think it's fairly easy to cut or make a shaft any length you need, reusing the same fittings. I've done it a couple of times with parts from the dump.

Clearances are tight and lengths need to be pretty close - I would measure and fit it as needed during installation.

The model 48 pto bolts to the pto port on the back of the 18 transfer case. I'd have to double check but iirc the 48 was for a wagon/pickup application. This means it's wider and clocked differently than for a CJ/Flatty application. Again, double check that though. IIRC the model 51 and 58 were for CJ/Flatty applications.
The winch will work for your application. Depending on placement of the engine and depth of bellhousing the shaft may be too short. but as Petel said these are easily modified/built. Lots of tractor supply places can make or supply a shaft. Six States Distributing supplies that stuff too. I've got to go to Mom's house later this week and can measure the shaft on the '57 (stock F-head, T-90, etc) if you need.

When I installed a Koenig PTO winch in my CJ 2A I bought bulk length shaft and cut to fit as mentioned above.

Go ahead and grab the winch and drive shafts etc. If the price is right grab the 48 as well, you can always swap or sell it to get what you need.

Koenig had a two piece drive shaft, it's gotta be pretty close to the 3a length but it all depends on the engine and tranny combo. The Model 48 is for a wagon and while I've seen one mounted on a 3A I would advise getting the correct one. The 48 is huge in comparison to the 50 series. (model 50 single stick or 58 or 51 twin stick. The other option would be to use a Ramsey PTO as they seem a little more available. May actually have an extra I'd be willing to part with.

I have a model 51 twin stick in my 3A. The only reason it works is because I also have a T-98 and a Warn OD which gives me enough room to route the PTO drive shaft around the clutch linkage. You would probably have to do something different with the clutch linkage in order to get it to work with a T-90 and no OD. I also bought a long shaft from McMaster-Carr to cut to length. It wasn't very expensive. You definitely want the PTO u-joints if they are any good, those are pretty spendy.

Measured the shafts/joints today in the '57 CJ-5. All stock with F-head, T-90, Koenig Model 51 PTO. The rear shaft from the end of the u-joint yoke where it's on the pto output shaft to the middle of the joint for the second shaft is about 28". From the center of the middle joint to the end of the yoke where it's on the winch input shaft is about 32". So, about 60" total. There is a support that is mounted to bellhousing on the rear most shaft.
