t 15 poping out of reverse help

    i got a t 15 behind a 304 and it started poping out of reverse any ideas of fixing it in the jeep or is it just a full off rebuild?????????????

    If the problem is in the shift top, you can fix it without removing the transmission. Otherwise, no - it has to come out.

    What Timgr said. Check the shifter top and shift forks for wear. Typically though it's the reverse gear dog teeth have worn. Also check the reverse/1st gear synchronizer sleeve for wear where it meshes with reverse. Common wear points. Also the reverse gear bushing gets worn....

    thanks where is the best place to get a quality rebuild kit and can i do this my self im not a tranny person but i can give it a shot . is it ez ? also can i get a rebuild kit thats stronger?

    I rebuilt my t-14 earlier this year and it also was popping out of reverse. The reverse gear bushing in mine was complety shot. I got all my rebuild parts from Herm the Overdrive Guy. He also had a gently used reverse gear for cheap.
