hub seals

    Does anyone have a source for the o ring that goes around the selector part of the hub. Not the small one but the large flat one that serves as a dust cover i think. These are the stock Warn 6 bolt hubs that came originally on this old 66 cj. hub was hard to turn and when pulled it apart this had disentigrated and was jamming up the assembly.

    I forgot to ask is there some sort of bushing or felt that goes in between the dash and steering column, i have some play in the column because it wiggles around in the dash mount. Couldn't find anything on Walk's or Kaiser Willy's. With bolts tightened i can still see light all the way around it. Was thinking about just cutting a section of Radiator Hose and slipping it around column and then clamping it down. Unlike My 68 there is no plate at the bottom of the steering column to bolt down but it also has saginaw. BTW its a 66 tux with Ross steering. Box is tight to the frame, and i have replaced the entire steering assembly from the box forward. Want this dude safe on the road, so fresh brakes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, shocks, u joints, steering components.

    It should have had (originally) a piece of molded rubber around the column at that bracket. Mine is about 1/4" thick.

    Mine had canvas around the column. I've had several that were that way. A piece of rubber most likely wouldn't hold water as bad. Regarding the hub o-ring, did you try contacting Warn? They may have rebuild kits for them. Or go to an industrial supplier and see what they can come up with.

    I was told you couldn't buy the warn 0-ring. Not sure if that's true or not.

    I ended up going to a local hydraulics shop and they just gave me a few o-rings.
